KOS - NORTH DODECANESE - KOS


Day 1-Kos Island

Located very close to the coasts of Turkey, Kos island is the second most popular island of Dodecanese, after Rhodes. Due to its large size, Kos Greece keeps a balance in tourism development. Some spots are very organized, while others are almost secluded and away from mass tourism. Kos Town is a mixture of Venetian and Ottoman architecture with interesting sightseeings, such as a Medieval Castle, an Ancient Agora, a Roman Odeon and of course the famous Asklepieion, an ancient healing centre, in short distance from the Town and great place to visit in your Kos holidays. The most tourist places are located on the southern side of the island, including Kardamena and Kefalos. This is where visitors can find large golden beaches with crystal water. 

Day 2 - Nisyros Island

A small island of Dodecanese, Nisyros is not developed in tourism and remains a peaceful, alternative destination. With a few tourist facilities, this is the ideal place for total calmness and privacy. Nisyros island is mostly famous for its still active volcano that is found in the centre of the island, the youngest volcano in Greece. Mandraki and Nikia are the most picturesque villages in Nisyros Greece, with traditional architecture and great views. The beaches are clean and due to the limited visitors, they have a relaxing atmosphere. The island can be visited for holidays or as a day trip from Kos. Also, holidays in Nisyos can be easily combined with other islands of Dodecanese, as there is daily ferry transportation in summer.  

Day 3 - Tilos Island

Tilos is a tiny island of the Dodecanese, located between Kos and Rhodes. Away from mass tourism, Tilos island is an alternative destination with secluded beaches and small villages. Although it has few tourist facilities, they are enough to cater to the limited number of visitors. Livadia is the port of the island and the most tourist place. However, the most interesting place is Mikro Chorio, a ghost village with abandoned buildings. The beaches of Tilos Greece are mostly unorganized and ideal for total privacy. Some of them are also naturist places and they can be accessed on foot or with the small local bus. The island can be visited for holidays or as a day trip from another Dodecanese island. 

Day 4 – Halki Island

Halki is a tiny island of the Dodecanese, located very close to Rhodes. Not much developed in tourism, this is a perfect destination for peace and privacy. The island distinguishes for its traditional architecture and the relaxing beaches. Nimporio is the only village and main port of the island. In the centre of Halki island, there is an abandoned village with a Medieval Castle on top. This village was abandoned when piracy was confronted in the Aegean Sea and people started to move around the port. Few beaches in Halki Greece are organized and can be accessed on foot or by bus. The rest are totally secluded. The island can be visited for holidays or as a day trip from Rhodes.

Day 5 – Rhodes Island

Rhodes Greece is the largest and most popular island of Dodecanese. With 300 days of sunshine per year, Rhodes island is mostly famous for the romantic Old Town and the amazing beach resorts. The Old Town is among the best-preserved Medieval Towns of Europe, with strong walls, an impressive castle, paved paths and elegant stone mansions. A drive around the island will bring you to magnificent beaches, impressive sightseeing and picturesque villages. A lovely place is Lindos village with the Acropolis on top. The most tourist places are located close to Town, but you can also find many secluded places for total privacy around the island. Holidays in Rhodes can be combined with other Greek islands.

Day 6 – Simi Island

Simi in Greece is a tiny island of Dodecanese that amazes visitors with a calm atmosphere and the fabulous architecture. In fact, Simi island has one of the most impressive ports in the Greek islands, with elegant mansions constructed amphitheatrically on the slopes of a hill and offering a breathtaking view to the sea from any spot. A promenade along the port is fabulous for a romantic evening. The beaches of the island are small but clean. Some can be organized and others are secluded, but they all provide a relaxing atmosphere for your Simi holidays. An interesting sight is the Monastery of Panormitis, on the southern side of the island. Ideal for families and couples, Simi can be visited for vacations or for a day trip from Rhodes.

We will leave the boat by 10:30 after breakfast.
